This main road lighting project faced a critical and region-specific challenge: the frequent thunderstorms during Malaysia’s rainy season posed a severe risk to outdoor electrical appliances. Lightning strikes and associated power surges were a common cause of failure for conventional street lights, leading to high maintenance costs, unreliable public lighting, and safety hazards. The client needed a solution that could withstand these harsh environmental conditions while providing high-quality illumination.

Requirement:

The client’s requirements were twofold:

Superior Lighting Performance: Ensure excellent lumen output, long-term stability, and clear visibility for main road safety.

Enhanced Durability & Protection: The lighting system must have robust lightning and surge protection to minimize damage and ensure operational reliability in a tropical climate. A high waterproof rating and corrosion resistance were also essential.

Our Approach:

We provided a comprehensive, tailored solution addressing both lighting and environmental needs:

Product Selection: Supplied a combination of ZGSM’s H-series (side-entry) and L-series (pendant) LED street lights. The 150W model was a key part of this deployment, featuring:

Luminous Source: Utilizes PHILIPS LUMILEDS chips, guaranteeing excellent lumen output and long-lasting performance.

Solar Panel (Optional): Monocrystalline panel, 6V/35W (605*323mm).

Battery Capacity (Optional): 3.2V/36000mA LiFePO4.

Product Dimension: 650*330*140mm, Pole inner diameter 60MM.

LEDs: SMD3030-1W, 180 pcs.

Material: Aluminum alloy housing, offering excellent heat dissipation and corrosion resistance.

Working Mode: Human Motion Sensor + Remote Control + Light Control + Timer, enabling intelligent and energy-efficient operation.

Customized Surge Protection: A critical part of our approach was customizing a 20KV ZGSM brand surge protector (SPD) for this project. Each street light was equipped with this protector, dramatically increasing the system’s resilience against lightning-induced damage.
